This cartoon captures the point that the internet is moving faster than any of us ever expected. In our proverbial relationship with the internet, the internet has skipped leaving a toothbrush at our house and just moved right in. The internet has started to plan our wedding but I need to step back and say “hold on.” I remember the days of floppy disks and physical representations of work. Something you could hold on to and pass from one hand to another. In the last 10 years things have jumped exponentially. I may be considered “old school” in that I prefer DVD’s to a hard drive full of movies, or a memory stick filled with documents rather than using the cloud. But my relationship with the internet is built off a certain distrust, a certain flimsiness that my computer could shut down at any second and I could lose everything.
